BIO CHAR

At Engrowfuels, we use a highly flexible, containerized pyrolysis system to manufacture biochar from agricultural and agro-processing leftovers. When it comes to biomass, our goal is to exploit the bottom of the value chain to turn trash into an important resource.

When leftover biomass is burned, it produces biochar, a stable type of charcoal that is high in carbon. Among its many applications, improving fertility and permanently removing CO2 from soil is the most common usage for it.

Designed with ease of scaling in mind

We produce our biochar in our specialized pyrolysis machine, which provides exact control over the critical process parameters controlling the quality of the biochar and bio-oil.

There are several modular machines at each location that can be expanded based on the site’s capacity for biomass and its accessibility to biomass supplies. For easy disassembly and maintenance, all machine subsystems are mounted on skids.

The biochar produced at our locations has a transformative local impact, turning barren soil into arable land. In our second-season studies on agricultural crops in India, biochar doubled crop production and reduced drought-induced losses by almost 60%, offering a sustainable solution for farmers in drought-prone areas.

To ensure the benefits of our biochar production return to the communities where we operate, we collaborate with regional partners. By working together, we promote local economic development and sustainable farming practices, creating lasting positive effects for the communities involved.
